Where art thou?

Saturday, October 14, 2006

A couple of minutes ago, I was talking to P on MSN (may God bless them!). As usual, our conversation consisted of the most inane topics which would make no sense whatsoever to anyone who wasn’t me or P, which basically is, the rest of the world. Now, she is known as the-one-who-wished-her-caring-loving-awesome-nice-friend-belated-birthday-2-days-BEFORE-her-actual-birthday. That was like, the height of goofing up. No, the Height of goofing up! I teased her to my heart’s content (which, by the way, was some teasing). Our conversation drifted towards people whom we knew, whom we are no longer in touch with and who seem to have become very different from what they were when we knew them. Of course, we weren’t too pleased with all that, but like, does anyone give a damn about what P and I think?

After our little (actually it was pretty long) chat, I remembered all my old pals (and not so-friendly ‘pals’ too) and kept thinking about them for quite some time(yes yes. I think about the good, the bad and the ugly)(and none of them fail to bring fuzzy memories back to my rotten old brain!). That was what made me write this. I decided, before I become too old and forget all those people, I must document bits and parts of the hazy pictures in my mind. Later on, I can read this, smile and go like “Mmm… those were the days.”

Since I have been in like 6-7 schools I shall start with my earliest memory of someone whom I called a ‘friend’. She was someone called Poulomi. She and I were friends back in 1st and 2nd standard. I would always irritate her with my standard line- “Poulomi, follow me.” (Yea, I was a creep back then too. Muahaha). That used to majorly piss her off! In the same class there was this girl called N1 whom I admired a lot because I thought she was very pretty and all that. She was. Then there was my very first crush (in 1st). It was on a guy called Prince (yea, that was his name. Nice nah?) and he was a teacher’s son. Back then, being a teacher’s son was very cool. So don’t laugh at me!

I did my 3rd standard in another school, in another city. I didn’t get a chance to make many friends in this new school but I do remember a few faces. First was this quirky chick called Itarthi. She was the girl-who-knew-everything-about-everyone. However, I remember getting majorly pissed off with her this once when she mixed up my cup cake with someone else’s (it was Republic day or some such day when they distribute cakes and chocolates) and I couldn’t figure out which one was mine and had to give up my cake (Hey, remember Joey? Even I don’t share food!). Ooohh and I can’t miss Ashwitha who I swear looked like Aishwarya Rai junior. She had lovely eyes. She was the snobbish monitor though and I was one of her favourites so she used to make me write her notes (I was all innocent and nice, okay?!).

Then I made sooooooo many friends in 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th that it’s impossible to write about all of them. Of course, all of them are no longer friends and most have been reduced to mere ‘acquaintances’. Isn’t it sad that despite all this technology and keep-in-touch-with-old-buds-networks one hardly has any long time pals remaining. Dearest of them all and who still is a dear dear dear pal is P, like I have said before. This Sag never fails to cheer me up and she has always been the there-for-you type friend. She is someone with whom I’ve cracked the poorest of jokes and yet we have laughed our asses out at those dumb jokes.

We were talking about how a certain someone (who was known as Machchar (M), between the two of us) had turned into a ‘dude’ in 10th. Now, as a matter of policy, I always laugh at things that should be laughed at. Isn’t this the stupidest thing one can attempt – being someone they are not? Trying to be all out-there sorts only makes you look like an utter idiot. Seriously. It’s much better to be a genuine nerd than to be a phony ‘dude’.

Virgo L is someone I call my ‘childhood friend’. We were the best of friends in 4th and 5th. We used to skate together, play house-house, teacher-teacher, make-up party together and used to romp around the colony in the evenings. She was the one who taught me how to cycle. We had these ‘Fun-ways’ which were actually slopes down parking slots. We had numbered all of them and would skate down these fun-ways with much gusto. Actually, even Scorpio D used to skate with us back then. The three of us used to play Cats or Charlie’s Angels at D’s place. We even used to have little ‘picnics’ in D’s and L’s kitchen balconies! L had taught us a novel way of eating Kurkure back then which, I must confess, was just the way a pig would probably eat them. Nonetheless, it was all great fun.

With my ‘building friends’ I used to play carrom. And I was good at it. So after all, I was good at some sport!

Then there was Scorpio V. We were like the best of buds in 5th, 6th and 7th. Both of us had Sanskrit as a subject (in place of marathi) and those sanskrit classes are somewhat like my current IT classes with Capricorn Abhu. Both of us were good at the subject and we would discuss topics that involved pens that were sold in local trains and such. She was the most amazing artist back then (and even now) and I loved this particular artwork of her so much that I made the exact same thing myself and stuck it on my wall. We were both pretty geeky and nice-type (heylo, what’s wrong with that?!) and I was horrified to learn later on that the guys in our class used to call us LL (lallu log)! Shit. Anyway, like I care! By the way, I recently got in touch with V through the marvel called Orkut. It feels great!

There were many others like K, N, S1, P1, A who were friends, the ones whom I liked to call my good friends. Sadly, they have all drifted away now.

Actually, I wanted to pay special tribute to those people whom I’d secretly been paying tribute to. You know, I am a firm believer in Karma. If you’re nice to your friends, then they’ll pray for you and prayers work. They manifest miracles. So, isn’t it better to have a few genuine friends* who care for each other than to have many ingenuine ‘friends’ who really don’t give a damn about you.

P used to be the perfect companion for my afternoon-trips to Society (a store in santa cruz which must’ve raked in millions when I craved for chocolates at the most unearthly hours) and also to Linking Road, where we used to shop and window-shop ( P lived very close to my place in Santa Cruz). L was one virgo whom I actually got along with. She and I used to think we were the most perverted souls in our class. (Yeah right. Little did we know about the others.) L would say, “Gosh Sneha, we’re so corrupted! Heeeheeehee”. You get the picture right? I used to go to the melas with V. She was my first ‘friend’. K and I had given about a million blank calls in less than 4 months. We even used to give R blank (and prank) calls!! Sheesh. I hope he never comes across this one. N and I would burst out laughing the minute we looked at each other. She and I had honoured A with what we called BBA (the full form of which shall not be disclosed in these hallowed pages). I remember so many funny things that A had confessed to. For example, apparently, he liked playing with Barbie dolls as a child. I also remember that I’d learnt the word ‘procrastinate’ from him. P1 used to actually hate my handwriting and would still say that it was okay just to make me happy (even though I knew the real thing). S1 used to call me up before the sanskrit exam to ask the portion and to do some translation work for him.

I remember everything about everyone. Now, Scorpio TC and Capri Abhu are my closest girls and recently they even helped me get out of a sticky situation (the stupid-fellow-incident) which I really really appreciate. May be, after some years, I’ll write about TC and Abhu and about all the things we do. Now, that should be fun. :D

* by genuine friends I mean those whom you can trust. Really trust. I remember R and A. they seemed to be each other’s closest pals. I was appalled to hear each bitch about the other to me! and they weren’t girls, in case you think they were. Hah! Anyway, I did know many such venomous creatures (one in particular) who didn’t have a single ‘friend’ whom she hadn’t bitched about. I hope she’s not the same any longer.

Taaza Khabar

Tuesday, October 10, 2006

Firstly, Blogowner(BO) and sister, S, are spent after 10 days of lazying around and doing nothing other than reading, whiling away time on the internet (courtesy Orkut) and sleeping(a lot a lot a lot). This has caused them to feel utterly guilty about their conduct in the past few days and they have hence resolved to control their frivolous urges henceforth.

Secondly, driver problems have yet again haunted BO, S and family. It was learnt that the previous driver used to actually give driving lessons to his buddies while waiting for BO in front of her classes! He had the audacity to do that. So now the mystery of the numerous dents on the car and the missing petrol have been soved. New driver looks like a fool, but he isn’t. He is one dhoort fellow who is soon going to be sent away. And just for the record, this fellow had learnt driving in BO’s car in those sneaky driving lessons conducted by previous idiotic-pain-in-the-posterior driver.

Thirdly, tomorrow happens to be BO’s birthday. She has already received birthday wishes in ‘advance’ (again, courtesy Orkut, where they notify people of their friends’ birthday a good 7-10 days in advance) and has even received ‘belated’ wishes from P!! *laughing like a lunatic* Apparently, P (dear dear dear Sag friend who happens to share her birthday with S and has declared that BO and she are ‘soul sisters’ since, in her words- “arre i hav decided 2 call u my sista coz our sad lives hav evrythin in common”) thought BO’s birthday was on 9th (courtesy an email from Hi5 which notifies people of their friends’ birthdays 2 days in advance) (BO is guessing this is the root cause. However P could have even dreamed about BO’s birthday) and dashed off an email expressing deep regret at having ‘forgotten’ BO’s birthday and how bad she was feeling about the entire episode. The mail, in turn, lightened up a disgruntled BO’s mood and made her giggle so hysterically that S thought someone might have added automatic tickling hands to the chair which tickled the hell out BO. P is such a sweetheart!

Fourthly, BO’s dear classes have started. And TC has exams at college which is why she isn’t attending the first seven classes. And BO hates her plight.

Fifthly, Abhu has grown supremely suspicious about a certain something mentioned in the previous post and won’t stop pestering BO. She simply won’t take ‘I am not telling’ for an answer! The nosy goat!

That’s about it.

Things I Want To Do

Saturday, September 30, 2006

Since the past few days I’d been feeling a little directionless. I felt there are so many things I always wanted to do but for some reason wasn’t able to do them. So I came up with a novel (okay, well, not really novel) plan which would help me remember all those things that I want to do. Everytime I feel low or disillusioned, I’ll pop in here pick a to-do and do it (hopefully) and rhapsodise about it. The last part (rhapsodising) is the most fun part!

So, here it goes…..

Things I want to do before I am 25….

1. Find out the truth about colours. Linda Goodman's Star Signs was the first place where I read startling things about the power of colours and how they affect us. I now want to find out the truth of it all for myself. Infact, I shall be performing a little experiment of sorts soon. :D

2. Learn how to swim. Yes folks, I don’t know how to swim. Such a pity, innit?

3. Learn to play the guitar. Then I can play and sing! How cool would I be!!

4. Learn Spanish. I had once started doing a little self-teaching type course but left it after 3-4 sessions. This is the language that I’ve always wanted to learn alongwith Arabic and German.

Yes, there are many (mannnnnyyy) things I want to learn.

5. Learn how to put mascara properly.Yea, erm.... I kind of mess it everytime! *blush*

6. Learn all about lexigrams.

7. Go paragliding.

8. Go snorkelling (after I learn to swim ie).

9. Make him go down on his knees and apologise a hundred times. Don’t ask me who he is because I am not telling. Muahahaha.

10. Knit a scarf. Actually, I had started learning crochet but left it midway. So I want to learn it properly and then make woollens. I don’t like leaving things incomplete, you see.

11. Visit the chocolate factory in KL (long story so as to why I want to accomplish this particualr feat. More on that later.)

12. Sing in public.

13. Not wear my watch for a whole week and forget all about time (in that particular week). Well, people who have read this know how particular I am about being punctual et al. So I want to break free (for a week) to see what it’s like! (of course, I may not live after that paticular week).

14. Tour Tuscany. I have been fascinated by this place since I saw ‘Under the Tuscan Sun’ starring Diane Lane.

15. Shop in NYC (yay!!!).

16. Learn Calligraphy.

17. Go to Egypt (er... I think I’ve mentioned a whole lot of places, but I can’t help it. I love travelling!) and really see the ancient pyramids and the arcane sphinx for myself. Then of course, go on a little break to decode their mysteries.

18. Learn Salsa. Yes, I soooo want to learn salsa! It’s the hottest.

I think I’ll stop at 18 for now. A) I can’t remember the loads of other crazy things that I wanted to do (they come in flashes, you see). B) 18 in itself isn’t really a good number, but it adds up to 9 which is! 9 stands for action, which in this case is very much required.

Maggi

Friday, September 29, 2006

Joblessness. Boredom. Hunger. Lack of creative ideas. Lack of events. The absolute non-happening-ness of my life. Some more boredom. All this has led me to think hard about a certain something that has saved S and me (especially S, the one with the limited culinary skills) from starving. Maggi. Yes folks, it’s the good ole maggi.

Maggi has come to our rescue on numerous (say, tens of thousands) occasions. Since time immemorial, S and I have been hogging maggi down whenever one or more of the following conditions were satisfied:

>>Hungry (which is like all the time)

>>Maid not around (or even if she is there, she is in an ugly mood- so ugly that there could be a possibility of non-veg items in otherwise veg food. Get the picture, right? )

>>Classes or college in 20 minutes and there is nothing else to eat (which happens very often) (Well, I don’t eat bread, so there. Another option gone.)

>>Utterly lazy to make anything else.

Maggi- the perfect solution. Every normal person remembers occassions when they were dying of hunger and miraculously, they discovered a pack of maggi in some obscure corner of the kitchen-shelf. That joy! Incomparable! God-sent manufacturers of this miracle item, may you never go out of business.

Of course, the classic masala flavour is S’s and my favorite. The other strange dal-atta-what-not flavours are like multiple-slap-type insults to our beloved maggi. Why on earth do they come up with such ludicrous flavours? I had once tried out maggi-atta noodles. It tasted like cow-fodder with taste-maker. Seriously. I thought, probably they have cut down on the calories in their quest of making ‘healthy’ noodles. I was disappointed. Same 400-odd calories. What’s the point? Are you listening, maggi people? We do NOT want atta noodles! We want good ole maggi. Or even if you do come up with such er, innovative ideas, try cutting down the calories atleast! *rolling eyes*

Maggi is the first thing that I ever cooked (well, even boiling water and putting a mass of maida noodles into it can be classified as cooking!). Maggi is the only thing that S ever cooked (okay, kidding. She knows how to make sandwiches, omlette and tea. *wide grin*). I even remember eating kachcha maggi out of sheer frustration. It didn’t taste too bad though. You may try it, in case you haven’t done that so far (but don’t blame me for the *ahem* consequences that may follow).

So that was the saga of maggi, the saviour. I am going and making myself some of it.

Postscript: Pardon the contentlessness (I hope that's a word. If it was not till now, then now it is!) of the post. The author was frustrated, dreary-eyed and bugged when she typed it out.

Update (typed under duress): S knows how to make many other delectable dishes. She says she knows more than I can ever know in this lifetime!

Sing Along....

Sunday, September 24, 2006

I have written in length about how I (and I am quite positive that many others too) associate songs and mementos with certain special events and times. So I decided to come up and record some songs that have meant a lot to me so that later on I can look back and remember those days with warm affection.

I am not normally this sadistic, but somehow, this song has always reminded me of some things that I'd rather forget. Even though the facts involving that phase of my life with which I associate this song are pretty (rather vastly) different, I have nevertheless felt those days come back to me the minute I hear this song.

Cry (by Faith Hill)

If I had, just one, tear running down your cheek
Maybe, I could cope, maybe I'd get some sleep
If I had, just one moment at your expense
Maybe all my misery, would be well spent

Yeah.... Could you cry a little
Lie just a little
Pretend that you're feeling a little more pain
I gave, now I 'm wanting
Something in return
So cry just a little for me

If your love, could be caged, honey I would hold the key
And conceal it underneath the pile of lies you handed me
And you'd hunt ,those lies
They'd be all you'd ever find
And that'd be all you'd have to know
For me to be fine

Yeah.... And you'd cry a little
Die just a little
and baby I'd feel just a little less pain
I gave now I'm wanting
Something in return
So cry just a little for me

Give it up baby
I hear your goodbye
Nothins goin save me
I can see it your eyes
Some kind of heartache
Darlin give it a try
I dont want pity
I just, want what is mine.... (quote please!!)

Yeah... Could you cry a little
Lie just a little
Pretend that your're feeling, a little more pain
I gave now I'm wanting
Something in retrun
So cry just a little for me

Yeah... Cry just a little for me

Then there is another song which never fails to cheer me up no matter how ugly a mood I am in. Plus, this song even reminds me of Legally Blonde (beacause it is its OST) and the oh-so-uhhmazing Elle Woods which in turn inspires me to work and underlines the fact that has been recently underlined by the Adidas people too- Impossible Is Nothing.

Perfect Day (by Hoku)

Sun's up
A little after twelve
Make breakfast for myself
Leave the work for someone else
People say
They say that it's just a phase
They tell me to act my age,
Well I am

On this perfect day,
Nothing's standing in my way

On this perfect day,
When nothing can go wrong

It's the perfect day,
Tomorrow's gonna come too soon
I could stay, forever as I am

On this perfect day

Sun's down
A little after ten
I pick up all my friends
In my Mercedes-Benz

Wake up
Don't tell me it's just a dream
'Cause when I've had enough
You'll hear me say,
Now don't you try to rain on my

Perfect day,
Nothing's standing in my way

On this perfect day,
Nothing can go wrong

It's the perfect day,
Tomorrow's gonna come too soon
I could stay, forever as I am
On this perfect day

La la la
La la la,
Oh, oh

I'm in the race
But I've already won
(La la la)
And getting there can
Be half the fun
(La la la)
So don't stop me
Till I'm good and done,
Don't you try to rain on my

Perfect day
It's the perfect day

It's the perfect day
Nothing's gonna bring me down
I could stay, forever as I am

On this perfect day
Nothing's standing in my way,

On this perfect day,
Nothing can go wrong

I'm in the race
But I've already won
And getting there can
Be half the fun,
So don't stop me
Till I'm good and done,
Don't you try to rain on my

Perfect, day
On this perfect day
On this perfect day

The song that I now consider my 'theme song' is....

Unwritten (by Natasha Bedingfield)

I am unwritten, can't read my mind, I'm undefined
I'm just beginning, the pen's in my hand, ending unplanned

Staring at the blank page before you
Open up the dirty window
Let the sun illuminate the words that you could not find

Reaching for something in the distance
So close you can almost taste it
Release your innovations
Feel the rain on your skin
No one else can feel it for you
Only you can let it in
No one else, no one else
Can speak the words on your lips
Drench yourself in words unspoken
Live your life with arms wide open
Today is where your book begins
The rest is still unwritten

Oh, oh, oh

I break tradition, sometimes my tries, are outside the lines
We've been conditioned to not make mistakes, but I can't live that way

Staring at the blank page before you
Open up the dirty window
Let the sun illuminate the words that you could not find

Reaching for something in the distance
So close you can almost taste it
Release your inner visions
Feel the rain on your skin
No one else can feel it for you
Only you can let it in
No one else, no one else
Can speak the words on your lips
Drench yourself in words unspoken
Live your life with arms wide open
To the years where your book begins

Feel the rain on your skin
No one else can feel it for you
Only you can let it in
No one else, no one else
Can speak the words on your lips
Drench yourself in words unspoken
Live your life with arms wide open
To the years where your book begins
The rest is still unwritten

Staring at the blank page before you
Open up the dirty window
Let the sun illuminate the words that you could not find

Reaching for something in the distance
So close you can almost taste it
Release your inner visions

Feel the rain on your skin
No one else can feel it for you
Only you can let it in
No one else, no one else
Can speak the words on your lips
Drench yourself in words unspoken
Live your life with arms wide open
To the years where your book begins

Feel the rain on your skin
No one else can feel it for you
Only you can let it in
No one else, no one else
Can speak the words on your lips
Drench yourself in words unspoken
Live your life with arms wide open
To the years where your book begins
The rest is still unwritten
The rest is still unwritten
The rest is still unwritten

Oh, yeah, yeah

(Well, I couldn't make anything bold over here since then I'd have had to make the whole thing bold!)

This song by Roxette is the ultimate...

It Must've Been Love (by Roxette)

Lay a whisper on my pillow,
leave the winter on the ground.
I wake up lonely,
there's air of silence in the bedroom
and all around
Touch me now, I close my eyes and dream away.

It must have been love but it's over now.
It must have been good but I lost it somehow.
It must have been love but it's over now.
From the moment we touched, 'til the time had run out.

Make-believing we're together that I'm sheltered by your heart.
But in and outside I've turned to water like a teardrop in your palm.
And it's a hard winters day, I dream away.

It must have been love but it's over now.
It's all that I wanted, now I'm living without.
It must have been love but it's over now,
it's where the water flows, it's where the wind blows.

These are the major songs that I have identified with. Of course, there are loads of others which are very close to me but they aren't as touching as these.

Well, the wordings may not seem to be 'touching' as such, but their music has always struck a chord somewhere inside me and I find myself smiling or crying when they play (and when I sing them).

Fun On Orkut

Friday, September 22, 2006

A lot has been said and heard and written and read about the nefarious Orkut-Despos (ODs henceforth). They scrap corny one-liners, they send stupider than the stupidest stupid friaandship messages and some even have the gall to incessantly bombard your poor scrapbook with nothing less than madly ludicrous lines!

I have compiled some ultra-hilarious lines which have been actually lifted from my scrapbook. This has been done for sheer amusement!

Comments: Well, really now, Orkut is fun! The craziness and corny-ness add a special touch of insanity and ludicrousness which makes you ROFL. After all, we do need things to make us laugh, don’t we?!

P.s. to B : Finally!

Liberated

Tuesday, September 19, 2006

I have been finally liberated after a week long organised torture conducted by my college, which they have given the innocuous name of ‘exams’. My reaction to exams these days made me take a hard look at the way I have evolved as a student, rather as an exam-taker.

Back in 3rd and 4th standard…..(I don’t remember many of my classroom stories(which aren’t embarrassing in any way) before that)…..

…. All I wanted were A+ Excellents or at least A+ V.Goods in all my papers. We had the grading system back then (oh! What glorious days they were!) and these were the top two grades which half the class got. Plus, our class-teacher(who taught us all the subjects) was the most adorable Lata Miss!! Everyone loved her and the other sections were green with envy because she was our teacher.Hah!

5th, 6th , 7th………

3 years. 9 terms. One rank. 2nd. Due to the presence of the almighty V in my class ( his initials were V I and we used to tease him by calling him V=IR(okay, we learnt this in 8th and that was when we called him that). Actually, if one pronounces the RHS of the equation with a certain accent, it sounds like his surname!). I still remember how he would start reciting entire chapters(yes! Stories et al) on our school picnics. He used to mug EVERYTHING up! And was(is) bloody intelligent! Leo too! Good ole days those were! Our ranks were fixed. He was always 1st and I was always 2nd. What was more amusing was that everyone found it strange that one person should always come only 2nd (they thought a lot of calculation must have been made by the 2nd ranker in order to get beaten only by one person!). Those were the days when I’d get upset after a paper if I was sure to lose more than 2 marks.

8th………..

This year there was a little change. There was a lot of change in me, but in my exam-response pattern, there was only a little change. The 2-marks’-loss-amounts-to-paper-being-doomed theory was modified into 3-marks’-loss-amounts-to-paper-being-doomed. So, like I said, not much of a change.

And oh! I used to come first in 8th since V was no longer in my class since we'd got shuffled! Yay!!

9th……….

There were major changes (including a change of school) which kept me upset for most of the year. I even flunked the hindi paper in the first unit test of my new school. Sheesh. Nevertheless, that was an experience all by itself! I became more liberal in my paper analysis scheme and further lowered my lower limit to 6-7 marks(in the science papers obviously).

10th……….

This year’s exams are blurred in my memory due the enormous amount of pressure that came with the first hurdle, the first national level examinations- the boards.

Its all pretty hazy now. I don’t even remember studying for the exams. Sheesh.

11th………..

A year of drastic changes. For the first time I experienced what it is like to sit in a class full of 150 odd students, in a heeeoooge gallery and not have a clue about what the teacher is blabbering. Sms forwards like this one made (still make) much sense---

Top 3 college rules:

1)B quiet in d class coz othrs r sleeping

2)Don’t 4get to carry ur book coz it works as a pillow

3)Keep the campus clean…

So be absent…

I even achieved mastery over the art of sleeping in class, that too while sitting in the first bench *pats herself on the back* ! It wasn’t a very difficult task really, because the teacher was least bothered about what we were upto. Everybody does their own thing in the class and no one really cares!

Being able to attempt 75% of the questions in the exam seemed to be an achievement (except for the IT paper which Abhu and I religiously attend and study for too… *smiling meaningfully* (a lot of things happen in our beloved IT class!!)).

12th……..

Don’t ask. Actually, now that I was the one who was taking a hard look at my er….. whatever it was that I was taking a hard look at (long posts make me go off-track!), I should rephrase the last sentence as- Iam not telling.

P.S. Apparently there was a lunar eclipse on the 7th of this month which has apparently changed many people’s lives drastically. Abhu’s life has had special pink, sugar-coated, bespectacled insertions(if you know what I mean)!!! And so has TC’s(she was previously referred to as Teju, but from now she is TC since that sounds cuter and more ticket-checker-ish. :D Anyway, they are her initials!) life. Apparently, after the 7th she decided that she didn’t have all that huge a crush on Epu and it was Psi who was more interesting. Hmm. Well. Drastic change, I must say. Anyway, she has been trying to get me to spill the ‘drastic’ change in my life which must’ve taken place after the 7th (according to her). Well, seriously TC, honey, sweety, sweetpea, pumpkin, nothing has changed. Really!

I have created a new blog in order to record all my dreams. Iam still wondering whether I should make it public or not :D

Update: Okay, I took all the bhao that I wanted. :D . The dream blog is public!! yay!!

Martyrs!!

Monday, September 11, 2006

Blogowner(BO) and her sister(S) had never gone for a blood test. Naturally, they were scared to death at the thought of having a pointed object piercing their precious precious vein and sucking blood out of it. The poor creatures had not even been warned of the fact that they were going to be tortured in such a manner. The minute they woke up on Sunday morning, bright and fresh, ready to grab the sole copy of Life first and read all the gossip, they were greeted by their father’s upbeat voice urging them not to consume anything and to get ready soon so that they are on time to get their blood tested.

BO: *stopping midway with a bun in her hand which was steadily reaching her mouth* What? Are you serious? I don’t like jokes, you know. (BO is normally in an irritable mood in the morning i.e. before she is fed)

Dad: Of course I am serious beta! We have to get both of yours blood samples tested. Get ready quickly! Nana-nani also have to get theirs tested. So be quick!

BO: *with a look of horror* WHAT?!? But we weren’t told beforehand! I have other work!! *quickly thinking up excuses* My exams are starting tomorrow! I have to study for them. You want me to pass right?

Dad: Oh! It’ll hardly take an hour. We’ll be back soon. Now come fast. Iam taking the car out.

BO runs to have a quick disaster-management talk with S--

BO: *in a spy-like tone* What do we do?

S: I guess we have to go. After all the results are needed for some inportant documents or something.

BO: *a little abashed* Whatever. Iam giving blood only from my finger. They aren’t going to touch my vein!

On the way to the hospital, S made some rather insensitive recollection about how this once a nurse was very careless with dadi’s syringe or something and blood had started to come out in large amounts. At this, BO gulped so loudly that nana-nani thought there was a frog or something in the car.

After reaching the hospital, BO and S learnt that the room where their blood was to be collected in a department which was somewhat underground--

BO: *with look of fear* They do the blood-sucking business down in the dungeons so that the victims can’t run away!

S: Smart people, the architects!

BO: *getting nasty thoughts and visualising gory things* What if the needle doesn’t pierce the vein the first time? What if they keep poking till they locate the vein? What if it gets stuck in your vein? Who is going to take the blood, by the way?

Nani: The technician.

BO: *gulp**sweating copiously* A technician?!?! Isn’t the doctor supposed to do it? Technicians are supposed to repair TVs and all!

Nani: No beta. They are trained in all this. The doctor is busy with other things, you know.

BO: *on the verge of fainting* Er…….

At that fateful moment at which the world might have seen the dramatic swooning of BO, BO and co reached the waiting area where S and BO slumped on the chairs like zombies. S had suddenly picked up optimism and positive-thinking vibes from some unknown source—

BO: *blabbering like a lunatic* Okay, Dad will go first. Then nana-nani. Then I’ll go. You’ll go in the end. I don’t want to be the first person neither do I want to be the last. So this, according to me is the best possible sequence…..

S: *with gleaming eyes* Its okay. Don’t get so worked up. Think of it this way- if we can go through threading, then a little prick on the skin should be nothing. Right?

BO: *frowning* Er.. yea, I guess.. but threading is for beautifying purpose nah. The rewards are high! So that gives one the courage to sit through it.

S: *sounding irritated* Don’t think so much now!

Suddenly, they realized that someone had called out S’s name and that the others had already gotten their blood samples collected.

BO: Shit! Plan chaupat! Best of luck though!!

S: *giggles and gulps after giggling*

In no time, she was done and BO was to go in next!! BO entered the place. The spooky looking place. There was a chair which looked like a chair meant for electrocuting people. The technician asked her to sit down. She sat down. He got a red band and tied her upper arm with it. He asked her to make a fist out of her hand. She did so. She was looking the other way when he pierced her vein with the syringe. She didn’t even feel it! However, she could feel it as it was left in that manner for 3-4 seconds to collect some blood. Ick! She kept looking the other way as he removed the syringe and then drew a long breath.

Phew! The techie (BO had grown to like the fellow since he wasn’t a jerk and did his job well) put a cotton ball and asked her to fold her elbows till the blood clotted.

BO left the room with a wide smile on her face. She then met S who came rushing to her and ---

S: *looking concerned* Why did u scream like that?

BO: *genuinely shocked* Did I er… scream? I think not! I think you just heard me tell him to remove that thing quickly. Er.. I am surely didn’t scream!

After things finally seeped into BO’s and S’s thick skins, they realised that they were done with the ordeal! Yay!! This realisation was followed by a little victory jig by the two and they proclaimed themselves as true martyrs. Nana-nani and Dad looked concerned about their absurd behaviour. Then followed a little field-trip around the hospital to the BP-checking centre where everyone gladly got their BPs checked. Everything normal there. Except for the part where BO was referred to as a ‘child’ by the nurse. S’s BP was 110/70 and BO’s was 100/60. Dad seemed to be a little concerned over this difference since everybody thought BO and S were carbon copies of each other. The nurse dismissed all his apprehension by saying that this was ‘normal for children’. What-ever.

BO, S and co merrily drove back to rhapsodise about their conquest to mother. Mother was most pleased but started pestering BO to ‘eat more’ when she learnt BO’s sugar level was just at the lower boundry (76 to something is supposed to be normal. BO’s is 75.5). S was pretty shocked to learn that all her ‘levels’ were normal. She was expecting a low or high something. Strange, huh?

Well, after all this drama, BO and S were very pleased with themselves for having overcome this hurdle and hoped that their bloodtestophobia had gone forever and ever!

Chin-Twin

Friday, September 01, 2006

While looking at the mirror, I had always wondered why my Co-creators had made me the way they had. My chin had always been a subject of concern (for me). Why didn’t my chin look like everybody else’s? I didn’t know how to describe it and how exactly it differed from ‘normal chins’. It was just, different.

Once in class, Abhu and I were talking about some inane things when suddenly our facial features were brought up. I don’t know why but she said my chin was….er… yes, this is what she said, ‘pointed’. Naturally, I was pretty appalled at having my chin being insulted this way! I didn’t say anything at that point because somewhere inside, a little voice told me, “Honey, you do have a strange pointed chin to be frank.”

Since then I had been gazing at myself in the mirror, wondering about all those people who could possibly have such a feature(I am a firm believer that when you have someone else to suffer with, the suffering becomes much lesser-- the we-go-down-together theory). I started noticing people’s chins very intently. I think some of them must have passed me for a moron when they found me looking fixedly at the region below their lips. Hmm… I can be very strange, you know.

One fine day, while surfing channels, I happened to see a trailer of a ReeseWitherspoon starrer. There it was!! *jumping on the couch* It was in that one second of enlightenment, of supreme illumination that I found my chin-twin!! Yes, ladies and gentlemen, Reese Witherspoon is my chin-twin (sorry to Ms.Witherspoon for any bad publicity this may cause *blush blush*)!!!

I rushed to the mirror to observe my chin for about 12 minutes or so after which I confirmed, that yes indeed, she was my god-sent chin-twin.

I think these images clearly show the pointed-ness of her chin. Now, you mustn’t think I resemble her in any way whatsoever, because I don’t (unfortunate people like me can only wish!). I am pretty much a troll *sniff* to look at. Only my chin is similar to hers, this is what I think. (This is the advantage of blogging almost anonymously. People don't know the real you! *1000-watt smile*)

I might even outdo Joey at finding body-part twins. This little bit of information is for the entertainment of curious readers. My hand-twin, nose-twin and collar-bone-twin is one of my sister’s best friends, Sal(oh yes, I do have a collar-bone-twin!)(you see, both of us have lovely *vain & dreamy look* jutting collar bones).

I am signing off with a note of thanks to Ms.Witherspoon for being born with that fabulously unique (well, not so unique) chin which must be making hundreds of pointed-chinned girls around the world rest in peace that they have company!

THE journal

Monday, August 28, 2006

There was this time when I had a cute little girly journal(pink adds the needed feel, you know). I adored it so much that I had even named it (I shall NOT disclose the name in order to protect the remaining izzat of the blogowner and to let people keep thinking that I do have some threads of sanity left in me).

I would write about things that bothered me in that dirty lil book of mine. Of course, it was kept hidden from my sister’s prying eyes. Not that she didn’t know about all the things that were in that book (I tell her EVERYTHING and vice versa)(heylo, what are sisters for?!) but I just didn’t want her to read it. My writing. What I had written. I just have this thing about people reading things that I don’t want them to read. A quirky one is that I don’t like her (or anyone for that matter) looking over my shoulder while I type a blog entry. Basically, I don’t like people prying over my work which is in progress. It just gives me the creeps. Similarly, I hate it when teachers try to look into my notebook while Iam working out a sum. It simply destroys my concentration and makes me hasty and get disoriented. This one time during an exam, the invigilator was staring away to glory at my work! It got on my nerves(like duh!!) and I stared back at her. I didn’t want to distrub the rest of the students around me by talking to her and asking her to go away. So I simply gave a nice, long, piercing frown-type-stare. Hah! The good ole lady walked away and didn’t come back!!

So. Where were we? Yea, the journal. Yesterday, I happened to come across it and couldn’t help feeling what-a-moron-I-was-back-then. It was simply hilarious, and at times outrageous. Things like, sheesh!!-how-could-I-ever-let-that-bother-me-so-much and how-could-I-possibly-have-a-crush-on-HIM *shock*. The crush part was especially strange! You know how weird 12-13 year olds can get!

Well, my journal writing days didn’t last long though. I somehow felt very insecure about having my innermost feelings lying around in a cupboard. What was I to do if someone (read parents) read it?!?! *holy horror* So the intelligent brain of mine convinced me to tear the ‘danger’ sheets off, soak them in water so that the writing becomes illegible and finally smash the remains to completely destroy any evidence of my madness. Hah!! *gleaming eyes* I actually did all that. I tore the pages and soaked them in water. However, somehow, some part of me urged to stop right there and compelled me to retrieve the sheets. And so I went on a reverse mission. So what followed was a nervous emptying of a pink bucket and the heroic rescue of those precious documents. Oh the documents! They were all written with ball-point pen, so the writing was still intact. Yipee!!! I dried the paper in my sunlit balcony. I actually spent an entire afternoon in that balcony, guarding my feelings on pulp and quickly hiding them with a large towel and pretended to be drying the towel whenever my sister gave an occasional peep. After 2 hours of evaporation and all that my sheets (now they were reduced to weird smushy pulpy thingies) were carefully stapled and placed back in the same journal. The journal was then hidden away in an obscure corner of my wardrobe(clothes section) (arghh! Now you know where I keep all my secret-secret stuff!) and forgotten about.

Yesterday, while glancing through those pages, I found out something about myself. Rather, I realized something about myself which I aleady knew. (yea, its kind of twisted). I am pretty touchy when it comes to things like trust. I hate it when someone I trust breaks my heart. And I somehow feel ashamed of the fact that I ever trusted that person. I don’t know why exactly I feel this way, but this is it. I can’t take people breaking my heart and its surprising how often the same has been done. I mean seriously, why are people so mean at times?

Confessions of a net-addict

Sunday, August 27, 2006

7.30 am......

Net-addict(NA) has just woken up. She had a glass of juice while charting out a mental schedule for herself (an extremely ambitious one that too). After having juice, she is supposed to do her homework, but she feels this inexplicable, incredibly strong urge to rush to the pc, switch it on and surf away to glory. What if there is a new mail? A new comment? A new something? This urge surpasses her already weak will-power(which is known to have betrayed her to such an extent that she ate up full boxes of belgian chocolate(yumm…) at a go on many occasions till date) and she is on her way to the pc. She may spend only 10 mins online, but she simply has to do it.

2 pm.......

NA has had her lunch. She should be preparing for her classes in the evening. Yet, strangely enough, she finds herself drawn to the pc the way iron filings are drawn to a magnet. She tries to resist. She takes her books to the other room. Somehow, she starts feeling so thirsty that she absolutely must get up and go to the pc room, the room where her bottles are also present. However, in a bizarre(?) turn of events she takes a detour to the pc even before she has reached the bottles. PC switched on. Net working. NA has given in. Again. SMS from friend arrives.

“Hey, what r u doin?”

“Er… Iam online. Sorrryyyy :(

A surge of guilt takes over. NA promises to blog about this in the hope of alleviating her angst and guilt for being unable to control her whims.

9.15pm.......

NA has returned from her classes. This is normally the time when she can do all her fun-things without feeling guilty since 9-10pm is her destress time. She blogs about her addiction. Her inability to work untill she has a shot of mail-checking, blog-reading, and other net-related things.

She thinks, probably no one has even got an idea that behind that ‘normal’ exterior, there lies a hidden, dangerous, compulsive, wicked net-addict. A net-addict who wants to be normal.

Azureline

Friday, August 25, 2006

Some people have been asking me what on earth azureline means and why is it *ahem* fortunate enough to be on my blog url. Well, there are several ways in which I can explain this really cute and sophisticated sounding term (by the way, its pronounced as uzh-your-lin)(its pronounced this way because I pronounce it this way). Hmm.

Azure means blue. Blue has always brought me luck. Most of my clothes are blue or pink(yes, yes, very girly). The endless, elusive, intriguing skies are azure. The seas and oceans are azure. The picture hanging on the wall behind this PC is azure. Azureline somehow represents the horizons, the boundaryless edges, where the sun rises and sets, where the waters and ships go out of sight, all things elusive. All things that show that the world is round and what goes around, comes around- Karma basically, which I am a believer of.

Then again, Azureline starts with an ‘a’ and the second letter is ‘z’. ‘a’ is the first letter of the english alphabet and ‘z’ is the last. This denotes completion, completion of something, a full circle. Azureline has 9 letters. Numbers like 3, 9, 13 have been often associated with bad luck. Its quite the reverse for me. Infact, 13 is a very lucky number, all you non-believers! Go to the library and read Linda Goodman’s Love Signs p.17. You’ll gain some valuable insight into the way the number 13 works. 13 stands for wisdom and is very lucky when used for the right purpose.

So, this is azureline. There.

*phew*

News...

Wednesday, August 23, 2006

There have been certain changes in the way things are done at our dear tutorial over the past few days. Some of them have been most annoying which I thought I should record somewhere so that I remember what morons I had once shared roof with(for 3 hrs each day)(bless the heavens for that).

Firstly, the namesake director(who is actually a jobless female with neither any brains nor ethics)(power-hungry at the same time) has made it mandatory for everyone to carry a rather hideous, disgusting GREEN bag(provided by the insti, which is only for advertising) to the insti. How silly is that?? Why should I advertise the stupid insti when I don’t even like half the people there?(well, the teachers are all nice and all that. The managerial staff suck big time.) Not fair, right? Anyway, they are morons! Hah!! They know not that I dost not advertise their insti!! I creep out of my house, make a quick entry into my car, whiz off to the insti and there I am! No one, apart from the watchman(as if he cares!), sees the dreadful advertisement-bag!!No advertising on the way!! Mission accomplished! *evil grin**makes a conspiratory gesture with her fingers at the same time*

Secondly.....

Okay, this part has been censored for certain reasons. This decision has been taken by the blogowner in the best interest of her health and well-being.

Thirdly, Eye-Karela1 (one of the attendance boys) has gotten Eye-Karela2 transferred to another branch! Sheesh! Politics even amongst the attendance boys! Once, while EK1 was in our class taking our attendance, he was gloating about how successfully he has gotten EK2’s butt kicked. We were all horrified that he was actually telling us that! On being asked why he was so against EK2, he told us that EK2 gossips a lot (hah! do you see the irony here?). Of course, all of us shot right back at him! We told him that HE was gossiping. With us!(not that we were on EK2’s side)(we just wanted to pull EK1’s legs). This was followed by a rather quick succession of blushing, hushing and rushing out of the class on EK1’s part! Poor fellow!!

Fourthly, the morons(read management) at our dear tutorial have arranged for three ‘complain boxes’ at an obsure corner of the insti. All of us are conspiring to stuff it with abusive letters to the guy-in-charge-of-everything or Pathetic Loser(PL). PL actually administers corporal punishment(hitting on the palm with a duster)(how sick is that!)(is he even educated??) on students who score low on the tests. Well, this once, I was also one of the low scorers *shameful shameful* (but heylo??! Its allowed to do badly atleast once or twice in 2-3 months!!). The people who were sitting in front of me had already been hit *tearful*. It was my turn. PL was smiling sardonically at me. I refused to show my palm and gave him a looonnnggg lecture on how horrible and unethical it is to hit students and I also let him know that its illegal in many countries ,just to scare the creep! It worked! *heroic achievement**claps please* Well, it didn’t work completely though. He still does this in other classes. He didn’t dare to come to our class after that!! However, it really pains and worries me so as to how people can tolerate such injustice quietly? It is their DUTY to speak against such heinous acts. Speak people, speak!

Anyway, enough of gyan-spreading and PL-bashing (not really, no amount of PL bashing is enough!!). I should get back to work or I’ll flunk my upcoming tests.

Weird sisters are weirder than you thought!!

5 years back…

In Manali…

In some deodar park or something…

2 girls and their parents had gone site-seeing. There was this other family whom they had bumped across the second time on that trip(destiny!). The important thing to be noted is that there were two cute boys(*drool*) in that family. The girls had been most thrilled to get a few glimpses of them the second time. At one point, while touring the park(or whatever) they reached an isolated area. They thought they were the only ones there and started having a loud, animated chat about some topic they had reserved for a clandestine discussion. This seemed to be perfect. Walking along the track….

S1: I think its okay now…*looking at her side*

S2: Yea.. So, I think we should should seriously resolve not to call each other all those silly things.

S1: Yea, please yaa, don’t call me chimpoo in public

S2: You also don’t call me buzzi in public… Its most embarrassing.

S1: The other day at Elite, that man thought we were nutcases. Calling each other weird things.

S2: I know!! I saw the look on his face!! He was awestruck. Poor man! *giggles*

S1: *giggles hysterically* Ok. So it’s a deal then?

S2: Yep, deal.

S1: Only proper names to be used.

S2: Yes.

Both were happy and satisfied that they came to an amicable deal. So far so good. Suddenly, they hear footfalls. *beads of sweat on S2’s forehead**S1 gulps audibly* . The two of them turn around to find cute boys walking along the same track!! They were apparently there all along and these two were blithely unaware of them!*both turn a deep shade of pink instantly**quickly disappear from scene of crime*

Moral of the story- Always check all four directions before blabbering shame-inducing-making-ears-turn-pink type things.

Note: Elite Fashions is a garment store in Bandra, Mumbai (atleast it was one untill 3 years back) which S1 and S2 are very fond of and love shopping over there since they believe it has the best clothes one can possibly find under one roof.

Weird Sisters

Thursday, August 10, 2006

I would like to thank J.K.Rowling for, among many other things, having thought of the Weird Sisters- a label that suits my sister and me more than any other label possibly could(of course, apart from the lunatic twosome and mega-morons and such)!

This particular incident took place on a rainy August morning.

S: *staring at the keyboard with utter awe*

Me: *drying a pouch with a hair dryer* What?

S: *now beaming at something on her index finger; finger is pointing toward the monitor* That’s so cool!!

Me: *looking at her with sheer disgust* WHAT is so amusing to you?

S: *blowing air at the index finger* Sheesh!

Me:*has given up hope of finding out what it is that amazes her so much* *continues with the drying*

S: Ants are like, soo strong!!

Me: *gaping stupidly at her* Is that all the wisdom you have gathered after 21 years on this planet?

S: *still thrilled* Ssh! Look at this cute little thing! It simply refuses to be blown away!

Me: Wow, what an observation. *grumbles something about S being such a freak*

S: *has apparently heard the grumbling* Yea, right. Look who is speaking! The one who is trying to dry a damn pencil pouch with a blow-dryer!

Me: *gives threatening looks**continues with the blow drying**refuses to respond to that*

S’s victory laugh fills the room

S:*smiling gleefully* Hah!

Fun Stuff!!

Paint my nails! Make my hair!!
I want to fall asleep. Isn’t that dreamy, drowsy feeling when someone pampers you just the ultimate? I have the good fortune of experiencing that feeling more often than before, thanks to my maid. She is the all girly-girly-slumber-party-lover-sorts. She makes it a point to paint my, my sister’s and my mom’s nails every two weeks. She tries out new(and old) hairstyles on me each time she gets a chance to lay her paws on my oh-so-silky hair.

This feeling of bliss is probably alien to many a male who hasn’t had the luck to feel the acetone evaporating from his nails (apart from the weird road-side-romeo types with a long red pinky finger-nail *yuck*). At times, I feel the life of a male could be so drab. No pretty make-up, no gloss to fuss about, no cute tops to compare with your girlfriends, no silky-straight-super-shiny-hair-to-die-for (the four Ss that must describe your hair), no barbie when you are young, no pink stuff to adorn your room, no jewels and trinkets (sheesh!! That is *such* a pity!!)(of course, I do have a certain aversion to guys/men who wear chunky jewellery. It looks pretty cheap, you know), no nail polish, no girl-talk and soo many other things that make life techni-colour!!

Me is proud to be a gal!

Masterpiece!!

Ya, I know I am pathetic. This is probably the closest I get to *serious* sketching. This is a product of my oh-so-over-flowing-creativity which oozes in copious amounts during boring lectures. Doodling is better than sleeping nah? So, this fine day I surprised Abhu with my skills with the brush (rather flair fortune pen, should I be paid for advertising? ) and had her in her usual "you-be-upto-such-inane-out-of-my-league-things-you-silly-girl"fit!!

Okay, these are some of the teachers at my tutorial. The first one was sketched in loving memory (especially for Abhu) of the very *famous* physical chemistry teacher who has now left the insti for reasons that God alone knows. Anyway, he always had an uncanny knack for being at the centre of all possible rumours, so, suits him good.

The second sketch is that of our pot-bellied physics teacher who is oh-so-rolly-polly-n-cute. The wayward curves here and there were made in an attempt to display this feature, in vain though. So this sketch obviously did not cut the mustard since it doesn't exactly showcase his cute chubbiness (is that even a word?).

Hmm. This part has been censored (am I following the footsteps of our doomed govt. or what?) by the blogowner in the best interest of her health and well-being. She suddenly got a feeling that all her teeth may be knocked off in the near future which is why these drastic steps are being taken. Thank you for your cooperation. New readers may kindly ignore this paragraph.

The fourth one is pretty straight. Its our math teacher. The one who threatens (lovingly of course, but not always!) to chuck us out of the window if we can't vomit out the formulae for the perpendicular-distance-of-a-point-from-a-line and such in less than a picosecond.

So. This work of *art* has indeed given me a lot of "personal satisfaction". May many more similar dull classes be spent in such "constructive" activities.

Oh! I almost forgot! When I showed Abhu these pearls of mine, she absolutely refused to accept that 1 looks like that *certain* teacher of ours! In fact, she started scribbling weird "thetas" in my notebook. I retorted by unleashing another of my masterpieces - Abhu herself!!

Statutory Warning- Before you have a look at this picture, please keep a glass of water by your side.
P.s.To Abhu- Revenge of the betrayed!! haha!! :P

Chained

Days should have been atleast 40 hours long and all the clocks, watches or anything that shows the ‘time’ should be destroyed. What is this life? Iam totally chained by my watch. What I do every hour of the day is decided from the day before. All spontaneity has vanished. No time to day-dream(barring those 45 mins in college when Phulbani Sir is droning away to glory). No time to blog. AND to add a cherry to the cake (yea right), something has gone wrong with my previous pretty-pretty template and I have to make do with this drab one for a while. Hmp.

The day I lost it…. Completely!

Me: seriously

Me: I JUST got it!

What a blooper! *blush blush*

Well. Something else also happened today which supports the Sneha-has-lost-it-today theory. I was talking to Abhu in front of her class. Psi had apparently gone somewhere *gloomy expression*. He seemed to appear out of nothing (actually he must have simply come up the stairs, the little detail which I missed) and was marching towards his (Abhu’s) class. In other words, he was marching towards us. I was caught totally off-guard and when that happens, I am very much comparable to a simpering(or loud, as it turned out to be in this case) idiot. I shouted on top of my voice “Look who is here!! Psi!”. Deadly blunder. And guess what happened right after that?? Abhu had to burst out laughing!! I was hoping to just evaporate. Hmm… Will have to think of some damage control now. Any suggestions??

Back!

With not so much of a bang, so ,er lets just say that I am back. I hadn't updated this space since a long time, well, simply because I was too lazy to do so *talk about being a lazy libran*.

Even though I was not my best this last month, quite a few things have surely happened. Like, Abhu has got specs (poor thing, she has been pestering me to teach her my oh-so-effective-and-popular eye exercises since that day) ; Gopala(of course, name changed! who on earth has names like this ?! ) (by the way, I was inspired to call Gopala, well, that after watching a certain madly hilarious episode of the Great Indian Comedy Show) came, lived with us for a month and now she is gone; the rain gods are happy and its raining here, and , I haven't done my routine pilates this last month due to which it is now much difficult to tell me and a bovine creature apart.

So. Talking about rain, I was wondering about the kind of feeling that rain generates in us indians. In which other country would rain be associated with a myriad of senti-menti things?! Rain, firstly, saves us from practically a natural-oven that most parts of the country seem to become during the summer months. *phew* . Bollywood has very successfully linked hoardes of lovey-dovey songs to baarish. Then, there is the very famous pakoda-chai combo (only pakoda for me! Read this) which is an absolute must, atleast for the first few rains of the season. And god knows how many other ways in which heavy showers (accompanied with wind!!yay!!)(Note:. Yay!! only when I don’t have to go anywhere out and can sit and enjoy or sleep or ruminate or do whatever I feel like at home) make us sing “Its raining men!!” (god bless Geri for that)

Abhu has, all of a sudden, grown more possessive of her ‘classmates’. (given she is a Capricorn, this sudden change is not much of a shock to me, plus, as I said, the last month I was too lazy to even ponder over such things or express any feeling of shock or horror.) This certain object of my desire(not really, more of an eye candy)(called psi) *blush blush* is unfortunately in her class. So, everytime I wish to view this character, I have to pretend that I want to talk to her(which isn’t complete pretention after all). I take the pain to get my posterior off, walk to her classroom (all this happens at our dear tutorial classes… yea, this is what happens!) summon her out of her class and surreptitiously try to position myself in such a way so that I can get a clear view of psi. But, not so easily-is what is playing on Ahbu’s mind!! She pulls me to the other end of the corridor, where I can see no one but eye-karelas, the peons and the people-with-the-attendance-registers. Sheesh! What a waste.

Nevermind. Now, this month, I have promised myself I won’t waste it away(yea, like the millionth time I have made this particular promise). But, I mean it this time!! Really! *innocent and sincere smile* . To Abhu’s pleasure college is reopening this week(because she gets to see and drool over theta then)(Note: theta is another person who has been so named for reasons that are best understood without anything being said by me)(thou don’t worry, I shalt write in length about our MGs)(enough now!) . So, I better get cracking now.

To Abhu: Don’t kill me after reading this!! Pretty please! *smiles like a baby* *batting eyelashes with the smile still there*
